Specimen Requirements
Container/Tube:
Preferred: Lithium heparin (light green-top)
Acceptable: Serum Gel
Draw blood following an overnight (14 hours) fast, spin down and send 1 mL (pediatric: 0.2 mL) of plasma or serum. Patient must not consume any alcohol for 24 hours before the specimen is drawn.
Note: Patient’s age and sex are required on request form for processing.
