Clayton Modification of Kleihauer Method
Note: This test is not for hereditary
persistence of fetal hemoglobin.
Specimen Requirements
Specimen must arrive within 24 hours of draw.
Draw blood in a lavender-top (EDTA) tube(s) from the baby’s mother, and send 5 mL of EDTA whole blood refrigerated.
