Methodology
Note: This test is primarily used for the detection of Pneumocystis.
Specimen Requirements
Usually only performed on specimens of respiratory origin. Place specimen (minimum volume: 5 mL) in a leakproof, sterile container. Forward promptly.
Note: Specimen source is required on request form for processing.
Reference Values
No fungal elements or Pneumocystis seen.
