Specimen Requirements
Do not use alcohol or other volatile disinfectants at the site of venipuncture.
Submit only 1 of the following specimens:
Plasma
Draw blood in a light green-top (lithium heparin) tube(s).Spin down
and send 0.5 mL of plasma.
Note: Label specimen appropriately (plasma).
Serum
Draw blood in a plain, red-top tube(s) or a serum gel tube(s). Spin
down and send 0.5 mL of serum.
Note: Label specimen appropriately
(serum).
